Bird’s-eye view of Hatshepsut’s temple at Deir el Bahari. The drawing is in landscape format and has no frame. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
Hatshepsut’s temple, in the foreground, is built into the rock face of Thebes Mountain. It comprises a first courtyard enclosed by a surrounding wall. A main alley leads to a gate. It is flanked by colossal sphinxes. A second courtyard opens onto terraced colonnaded porticoes accessible by ramps. Beside it stands the temple of Montouhotep II.
