Presentation :

Front view of a wine merchant and his store. The drawing is in portrait format. It is framed in ink. Inscriptions and traces of watercolor are visible in the margins.
From the street, we can make out the interior of a wine merchant’s store. Behind the counter, a man pours wine into a funnel. The wine then flows into an amphora held by a figure stationed on the other side of the counter. Vases of various sizes hang from a gallows.
The composition was inspired by a relief from Til-Châtel, preserved in the Musée archéologique de Dijon.
