Aerial view of the Ramesseum at Thebes (Louqsor). The drawing is in landscape format. It is organized within a graphite frame. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The Ramesseum is shown in the center of the drawing, in the middle of a desert area. Access to the temple is via a landing stage, visible in the lower right-hand corner. An alley leads to a low enclosure with a gate. This leads to a pylon and a first courtyard lined with porticoes. A ramp leads to a second door opening onto a second courtyard surrounded by porticoes. Staircases lead to the covered rooms of the sanctuary. On either side of the temple are the buildings reserved for the priests and the stores. The enclosure also contains a sacred lake.
