Aerial view of Hatshepsut’s temple at Deir el Bahari. The drawing is in landscape format and has no frame. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
Hatshepsut’s temple, in the foreground, is built into the rock face of Thebes Mountain. It comprises a first courtyard enclosed by a surrounding wall. A main alley leads to an access ramp. It is flanked by colossal sphinxes. A second, identical courtyard opens onto colonnaded porticoes serving various chapels and a peristyle. In the background is the temple of Montouhotep II. A colonnaded terrace is topped by a tumulus.
