Aerial view of the funerary temple of Amenophis III, also known as Amenophium, in Thebes (Luxor). The drawing is in portrait format and has no frame. The reverse side features inscriptions.
The funerary temple is located not far from a watercourse and is accessible via a landing stage and tribune. It is set inside a fortified enclosure with a monumental entrance, adorned with the “Colossi of Memnon” bearing the effigy of the pharaoh. The temple is entered via a first pylon opening onto a first courtyard with a ceremonial aisle; then via a second pylon opening onto a second courtyard; and finally via a third pylon opening onto a third courtyard. At the far end of the third courtyard is the main sanctuary of the funerary temple. A storage area is located on the left-hand side of the drawing. On the right, you can see the sacred lake and its garden, as well as the Ptah-Sokar-Osiris funerary temple. A mountain rises in the distance.
