Aerial view of Vesunna (Périgueux) in the Late Period. The drawing is in landscape format. It is arranged within a frame drawn in ink. A sketch and inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The town is set within a fortified enclosure. The wall is reinforced by semicircular towers and a moat. The residential quarters are built around a square that opens onto a Christian basilica. The former amphitheatre has been partly demolished to make way for houses. On the outskirts of the city, the ruins of the ancient sanctuary with its circular temple can be seen in the lower left-hand section of the drawing.
