Presentation :

Bird’s-eye view of a boat transporting barrels on the Moselle River. The drawing is in landscape format. It is organized within a frame drawn in ink. Traces of watercolor and inscriptions are visible in the margins.
A ship travels on the river. Its bow and stern are adorned with zoomorphic decorations. Twelve wooden barrels are stored horizontally on the deck. The boat is propelled through the water by the efforts of some twenty rowers and a figure maneuvering the rudder.
The composition is inspired by a relief by Neumagen.
