Presentation :

Aerial view of the temple at Thebes (Luxor) during the reign of Nectanebo. The drawing is in portrait format and has no frame. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The temple is located in the immediate vicinity of the Nile, visible in the upper right-hand corner of the drawing. It is set within a fortified brick enclosure. A pylon, flanked by two obelisks, opens onto a first courtyard with porticoes. This courtyard is linked to a second porticoed courtyard by a high rectangular covered room. The second courtyard leads to a hypostyle hall and the sanctuary. On either side of the temple are the temple storehouses, the priests’ dwellings and the sacred lake. In the foreground, a second enclosure is being built. Workers are at work on its construction.
