Presentation :

Aerial view of the temple of Louqsor transformed into a Roman camp at Thebes (Louqsor). The drawing is in landscape format. It is arranged within a frame drawn in ink. Traces of watercolor and inscriptions are visible in the margins.
The castrum stands on the banks of the Nile. This was the city’s former temple, transformed into a Roman camp. It is set within a fortified enclosure with towers and six gates. The camp is organized into islets on either side of the temple. A pylon, flanked by two obelisks and three statues, opens onto a porticoed courtyard. This courtyard is linked to a second porticoed courtyard by a covered room. The second courtyard leads to a hypostyle hall and the sanctuary. Nearby, you can see the dwellings.
