Front view of a scene of mourners. The drawing is in portrait format. It is framed in ink. Traces of watercolor and inscriptions are visible in the margins. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
Several women, dressed in black dresses, are gathered to weep. As a sign of pain, they raise their arms to the sky and pull out their hair.
The young blond woman in the foreground was inspired by the Venus de Tayrac in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Agen.
