Presentation :

Frontal view of a basket maker and a merchant at the scales. The drawing is in portrait format and has no frame. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
Two figures are facing each other. A basket-maker is shown on the left. He is making a basket. Straw bales lie at his feet. On the right, a merchant is weighing his wares on scales. His display consists of fruit and cheese in baskets.
The scale’s weight is inspired by a weight representing Minerva, preserved in the Musée Départemental Arles Antique.
The drawing was produced for the Arles exhibition in 2006.
