Aerial view of the Tarraco circus and forum (Tarragona). The drawing is in landscape format and has no frame. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The circus is visible in the lower part of the drawing. Spectators are seated in the cavea bleachers and the main box. The façade of the building consists of two levels of arcaded galleries. On the left are the carceres from which the floats are launched. On the right is the triumphal arch. In the middle of the arena is the spina, around which the charioteers circle. At the rear of the building is the forum. It consists of a vast rectangular courtyard, lined with porticoes and pierced by a monumental arch. An octostyle temple stands behind it. All these monuments are sheltered by a fortified enclosure.
