Presentation :

Bird’s-eye view of a Byzantine church in Syria. The drawing is in landscape format. It is framed in ink. Traces of watercolor and inscriptions are visible in the margins.
The building is built on a basilica plan. Three naves are extended by apses and absidioles with semicircular niches. The choir is enclosed by an iconostasis. A pulpit is located in the nave. The altar stands beneath the triumphal arch. The building has two levels of elevation: large arcades with Corinthian columns and high windows. The walls of the basilica and the apsidal conch are decorated.
