Presentation :

Front view of a statuette of Athena. The drawing is in portrait format. It is framed in ink. Inscriptions are on the recto.
The goddess Athena is shown standing, from the front. She is wearing a peplos, cinched at the waist by a belt, and carries the aegis on her shoulders. Her head is crowned with a three-crested helmet featuring a sphinx and two pegasi. In her right hand, she holds the winged Niké, resting on a column. In her left hand, she holds her shield.
The design was inspired by the Varvakéion statuette, a copy of Phidias’ statue of Athena, dated 438.
