Presentation :

Aerial view of Simitthus (Chemtou). The drawing is in landscape format. It is organized within a frame drawn in ink. Traces of watercolor, black ink and pencil are visible in the margins. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
In the foreground are fields and the Medjerda River crossed by a bridge. The city extends to the center of the drawing. A theater, a forum and thermal baths fed by an aqueduct can be seen. The aqueduct continues into the upper left-hand corner of the drawing, spanning the Mellah River. On the right, on the outskirts of the city, is an amphitheatre. Mountains loom in the background.
