Aerial view of the Basilica of Saint-Denis in 1281. The drawing is in landscape format. It is organized within a frame drawn in ink. Traces of watercolor, a compass rose and inscriptions are visible in the margins. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The basilica stands amidst the houses. A market is located in the square. The building has a Latin cross plan and is built in the Gothic style. The main portal is surmounted by two towers in different styles. The semi-circular chevet features radiating chapels. The building’s vaults are buttressed by the buttresses visible on the exterior. The cloister and its garden are built on the south side of the basilica.
