Presentation :

Front view of a sacrificial scene. The drawing is in portrait format. It is framed in ink. Inscriptions and traces of watercolor are visible in the margins.
The scene depicts a sacrifice. The priests and audience are gathered around an altar.
The offering to the gods has just been made, fruit has been placed on the altar and a lifeless bovine has just been brought in by the executioner.
The composition is inspired by the sacrifice in front of an Adriatic port (Trieste?) depicted on the bas-reliefs of the Trajan column.
