Front view of the temple of Divus Iulius in Roma (Rome), 1st c. The drawing is in landscape format. It is framed in ink. Inscriptions and traces of watercolor are visible in the margins.
The temple stands on a square. It is flanked by two arches, the Arch of Caius and Lucius Caesar, on the left, and the Parthian Arch, on the right. In front of the temple stands a tribune with an exedra where a commemorative column is placed. The tribune’s wall is decorated with ship’s prows. A speaker delivers a speech to the assembly in front of him. The temple’s façade features six Ionic columns topped by a triangular pediment with a tympanum decorated with a star. Statues adorn the corners of the roof.
