Aerial view of the domus Aurea in Roma (Rome). The drawing is in landscape format. Only the right margin is drawn in ink. A highly schematized plan appears on the reverse. Only the right margin has been preserved (cut out). Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The ornamental lake is shown in the center of the drawing. Rectangular in shape, it is bordered by porticoes. To the left, the base of the Temple of Claudius and its garden can be seen. An aqueduct surrounds the building. Behind the lake stands the vestibule. This is an immense garden-court surrounded by porticoes, featuring a colossal statue of Nero as Apollo. The Domus Tiberiana can be seen in the distance.
