Aerial view of the port and colossus of Rhodos (Rhodes), before 228 BC. The drawing is in landscape format and has no frame. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The city and its colossus are depicted at dusk. The Colossus of Rhodes stands on a pedestal at the entrance to the commercial port. In his left hand, he holds a spear and drapery, while in his right, he raises a torch. His head is crowned with rays. The city and its two harbours lie in the background, within a fortified enclosure.
