Presentation :

Front view of the structural framework under construction at Reims Cathedral. The drawing is in portrait format. It is framed in ink. Inscriptions and traces of watercolor are visible in the margins.
The drawing depicts the installation of the Gothic cathedral’s roof structure. In the lower part, beneath the framework, we can see the wooden arches used to build the ribbed vaults. The building is then covered with a wooden framework. Workers on site. A lifting machine is shown. A second team, on ladders and scaffolding, puts the roof in place.
