The city develops within a fortified enclosure, visible in the distance. The Gothic cathedral stands amidst half-timbered houses. Figures are depicted on the forecourt, on their way to church. The cathedral is flanked on the right by the Hôtel-Dieu, which can be recognized by its grey roofs. In the distance, several buildings can be identified: to the left of the cathedral, the church of Saint-Pierre-le-Vieil, the temple commandery and the church of Saint-Hilaire; to the right, the archbishop’s palace, the churches of Saint-Etienne and Saint-Pierre.
