Presentation :

Aerial view of the Greek temples at Poseidonia (Paestum) in the 2nd century. The drawing is in landscape format and has no frame. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The town was developed within a fortified enclosure, punctuated by towers and pierced by gates, visible in the lower part of the drawing. Two temples and their altars, dedicated to Hera, stand behind it. The forum rises a little higher. It is lined with porticoes, a temple, an open-air market and the curia. The city also boasts an amphitheatre, gymnasium and palestra. Dwellings can be seen on the left of the drawing.
