The drawing shows the city’s two seaports, Portus Claudius and Portus Trajan. The harbor complex opens with the Port of Claudius, visible on the left. A quadrangular basin is protected by a dike. A lighthouse marks its position at the entrance to the channel. Trajan’s port is on the right. It consists of a hexagonal basin lined with warehouses. The town of Portus lies behind it. On the right, a canal, the Fossa Traiana, links the Tiber to the sea.
