Front view of the atrium of the House of the Faun in Pompeii. The drawing is in landscape format. It is framed in ink. Traces of watercolor are visible in the margins. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The atrium can be seen in the foreground. The room is organized around a basin adorned with a statuette. The roof has a hole in the center. The room contains little furniture (a bench and a bronze basin on a tripod). Two Corinthian pilasters frame a bay and give access to a small room that opens onto a garden via a colonnade. Several benches are installed here. Characters are depicted in the room. The master of the house is seated in an armchair. He is greeting a guest who has come to visit him.
