Aerial view of the Notre-Dame de Paris construction site. The drawing is in landscape format. It is organized within a frame drawn in ink. Traces of watercolor and inscriptions are visible in the margins.
The cathedral stands on the Île de la Cité, in the midst of housing. The building is still under construction. The chevet, choir and transept are complete. The transept crossing is topped by a high spire. The nave and portal are still under construction. Workers at work on the site. Scaffolding, hoists and wooden hangers can be seen. On the forecourt, stone cutters are shaping blocks, some are installing the bas-reliefs for a portal tympanum, while others are putting the bays in place.
