Aerial view of Paris at the end of the reign of Charles V. The drawing is in landscape format and has no frame. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The city is set amidst a verdant plain of fields and woods. It is located on the banks of the Seine. The Île de la Cité stands in the middle of the river. A fortified enclosure punctuated by towers and gates protects the city. Houses include Notre-Dame Cathedral, on the island, and the Louvre royal palace, on the right bank.
