Presentation :

Aerial view of Palmyra (Palmyra). The drawing is in landscape format. It is organized within a frame drawn in ink. Traces of watercolor and inscriptions are visible in the margins.
The town develops along a road that runs lengthwise through it. It is bordered by a colonnaded portico and punctuated by a monumental arch, visible on the left, and a tetrapyle, placed in the center of the drawing. The major monuments are arranged on either side of this axis. First, the sanctuary of Nabû on the left. A temple stands at the center of a courtyard bordered by a colonnaded portico. On the other side are the baths. Further on, a theater is erected. It is flanked by the agora. Diocletian’s camp can be seen in the background, at the end of this road. Mountains can be seen in the distance.
