Presentation :

Front view of Caligula’s lighthouse and ship at Ostia (Ostia). The drawing is in landscape format. It is organized within a frame drawn in ink. Traces of watercolor and inscriptions are visible in the margins.
The Ostia lighthouse has three blind levels with square or octagonal sections. Its originality lies in its base, which is made from the prow of a ship. This was used by Caligula to bring back an obelisk from Egypt. The lower section features a ladder.
