Aerial view of Neapolis (Naples) and the gulf. The drawing is in landscape format and has no frame. Guidelines and inscriptions are visible on the reverse.
The city is located on the Mediterranean coast, slightly set back from the coast. It is organized within a fortified enclosure, punctuated by towers and pierced by gates. The forum stands among the houses. It comprises a vast courtyard lined with porticoes and a temple. It is flanked by the theater. The stadium and amphitheatre are built along the city wall. The city’s port lies outside the city walls, not far from the mouth of a river. Vesuvius rises in the distance, in the background.
