Aerial view of the port of Massilia (Marseille). The drawing is in landscape format. It is organized within a frame drawn in ink. Traces of watercolor and inscriptions are visible in the margins.
The town is set inside a fortified enclosure opened to the outside world by a monumental gateway, visible in the lower part of the drawing. A temple built on the heights of the city can be seen amidst the dwellings. The harbor extends outside the wall.
A variety of boats are moored here. Some boats are loaded or unloaded with merchandise (amphorae), while others are in need of repair.
