Aerial view of Lutetia Parisiorum (Paris). The drawing is in landscape format. It is organized within a frame drawn in ink. Traces of watercolor are visible in the margins. A sketch of an amphitheater and inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The drawing shows the port, the bridge, the Île de la Cité, the Cluny baths, the theater and the Collège de France baths. The port develops on either side of the Seine. In the lower part, you can see the commercial activity. Boats dock and goods are unloaded in warehouses. A wooden bridge links the Île de la Cité with the left bank, shown in the upper part of the drawing. On both sides of the river, the city’s artisanal activities can be seen, with numerous potters’ workshops. In the heart of the city, the thermal baths stand to the left and the theater to the right.
