Aerial view of the entrance to the port of Leptis Magna. Printed and watercolored copy of the preparatory drawing. The drawing is in landscape format and has no frame. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The foreground shows the outer harbor used by small boats to unload their cargo. Workers are completing its construction. Stone blocks and columns are placed on the building site. Ships are moored to the quays, while others ply the waters. In the background, at the end of the pier, stands the lighthouse. It consists of three square, blind storeys, topped by a columned aedicula crowned by a statue.
