Front view of the Lascaux cave. The drawing is in portrait format. It is framed in ink. Inscriptions appear on the left side of the drawing and on the reverse.
In the foreground, the cave wall is depicted on the left. On the right, a man climbs a tree trunk, which serves as a ladder. In the background, two men stand on a wooden scaffold and paint on the cave wall. Three bowls, one for paint and two for lamps, lie at their feet. A fourth man stands at the bottom of the scaffolding, holding out a bowl to serve as a lamp. Other bowls lie beneath the scaffolding.
