Aerial view of the northern quarter of Kerkouane, 3rd century BC. The drawing is in landscape format. It is arranged within a frame drawn in ink. Traces of watercolor and inscriptions are visible in the margins.
The city’s double fortified wall can be seen in the lower left-hand corner. Behind it, the houses of the district develop. The various rooms of the houses are organized around a central courtyard. The Rue de l’Apotropaion opens onto a square where merchants have set up their stalls.
