Aerial view of Jerusalem in Crusader times. The drawing is in landscape format. It is framed in ink. Traces of watercolor and inscriptions are visible in the left margin. A black-and-white print of the drawing appears on the reverse.
The town is organized within a fortified enclosure, punctuated by towers and pierced by several gates. The esplanade stands to the right of the drawing. The Dome of the Rock, an octagonal edifice covered by a golden dome, stands at the center of the esplanade. It is flanked by the Al-Aqsa mosque. The city unfolds in several terraces on the left-hand side of the drawing. It is home to several churches and the Monastery of the Holy Sepulchre. To the left of the drawing, along the city wall, are the Tower of David and the Royal Palace. In the distance, on the right, the Mount of Olives rises above the Garden of Gethsemane.
