Presentation :

Aerial view of Herod’s third palace. The drawing is in landscape format. It is organized within a frame drawn in ink. Traces of watercolor, ink and graphite are visible in the margins. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The palace is located on either side of a stream. On its north bank, in the upper part of the drawing, is a group of reception and rest rooms. On the other side, accessed by a bridge, was a vast garden enclosed by colonnades. This garden was dug into the ground and entered via a semicircular staircase. To the south, a square pavilion is built on an artificial height. To the right is a large, rectangular pond.
