Presentation :

Front view of the Halicarnassus mausoleum (Bodrum) under construction. The drawing is in landscape format. It is arranged within a frame drawn in ink. Traces of watercolor and inscriptions are visible in the left margin, which has been cut away.
The drawing depicts the construction of the mausoleum, seen from the embrasure of a bay. The mausoleum consists of a rectangular base, surmounted by a colonnaded gallery and stepped roof, atop which is a sculpted quadriga. The building is decorated in high relief and in the round. Scaffolding is set up against the walls. Workers color the decorations.
