Aerial view of the Giza limestone quarries. The drawing is in landscape format and has no frame. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
Workers extract limestone blocks from an open quarry on a hillside. In the upper part of the drawing, the blocks are fully or partially exposed, while in the lower part they are still being shaped. To carve them, the workers use chisels and mallets. In the center of the drawing, five men use wooden levers to move a block from the quarry face onto a wooden hauling sled.
