Bird’s-eye view of a scene depicting the completion of a capital in Ephesus (Ephesus). The drawing is in landscape format. It is arranged within a frame, partly drawn in ink. Traces of watercolor are visible in the margins.
On a building site, two carvers complete the carving of an Ionic capital. They are equipped with mallets and chisels. The two scrolls are clearly visible, as is the spine adorned with ova and darts, and the column shaft.
