Front view of the Dyrrachium lighthouse (Durrës). The drawing is in portrait format and has no frame. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The lighthouse rises out of the sea at dusk. It consists of a base with galleries, accessed by a ramp. It is made up of two blind ashlar levels. The first is square, the second hexagonal, decorated with blind arches.
The whole is topped by a columned aedicula.
The design is inspired by the representation of the lighthouse on the Trajan column.
