Presentation :

Aerial view of the city center and Mars Gate of Durocortorum (Reims). The drawing is in portrait format and has no frame. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The city opens with a monumental gateway in the foreground, the Porte de Mars. It features three semicircular bays topped by an attic and three sculpted groups. The forum stands behind it, at the intersection of the cardo (north-south axis) and the decumanus (east-west axis). It comprises a rectangular courtyard with a portico, a temple and a basilica. At its sides are the thermal baths and a huge quadrangular building of undetermined function. In the distance, the countryside stretches as far as the mountains.
