Presentation :

Aerial view of the “Museum” baths at Divodurum Mediomatricorum (Metz). The drawing is in landscape format and has no frame. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
These are the large baths located to the north of the city, also known as the “Museum” baths. The building is accessed via a colonnaded portico, visible in the lower part of the drawing. The E-shape of the building reveals the internal circulation in the various spaces (frigidarium, tepidarium, caldarium). The building is covered by gable and double gable roofs. The white smoke emanating from the buildings indicates the activity of the furnaces, designed to heat the air and water in the baths.
