Aerial view of Dendara. The drawing is in landscape format and has no frame. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
In the lower part, along the Nile, are the landing stage and its kiosk. A long access road leads to the entrance of the Temple of Hathor. The temple is set within a fortified enclosure, pierced on the north side by a monumental gate. The temple is preceded by a vast courtyard. At the rear of the building is the Temple of the Birth of Isis. To the west, a first building with a colonnade can be seen, the Mammisi of Augustus. It is flanked by two quadrangular buildings: the Mammisi of Nectanebo and the sanatorium. Further on, you can see a well amidst palm trees and a sacred basin or lake, accessible by stairs. To the east are the workshops, stores and priests’ dwellings. On the left-hand side of the drawing, the city of Tentyris and the Temple of Horus (Ptolemaic and Roman period).
