Presentation :

Frontal view of a scene painted in the tomb of Irenefer at Deir el Medineh. The drawing is in portrait format. It is organized within an untraced frame. Inscriptions are visible in the margins. It is a painted photocopy taped to a sheet of A4 paper.
In a doorway, the shadow of the deceased emerges from the grave. The soul of the deceased, the Bâ, is represented as a bird with a human head. It is ready to take flight from the dark world, represented by the black disk. Then it finally flies away. This representation illustrates chapter 92 of the Book of the Dead.
