Aerial view of Conimbriga, early 2nd century. The drawing is in landscape format and has no frame. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The town stands on the heights of a rugged landscape. A wall, pierced by gates and punctuated by towers, encircles the town and its dwellings. Major monuments include the amphitheatre, forum and temple in the center of the city. An aqueduct supplies the city with water. The thermal baths were built to the south of the city, just above the fortifications.
