Presentation :

Aerial view of Cluny Abbey. The drawing is in landscape format and has no frame.
Cluny lies within a vast fortified enclosure. Part of the city can be seen in the distance in the lower part of the drawing. The abbey stands to the left of the drawing, with its own enclosure. The building features a semicircular chevet and two projecting transepts with apsidioles. The crossing of the main transept is topped by a square tower.
Two octagonal towers crown the transept arms. The nave is flanked by double aisles. A narthex precedes the entrance to the building. The entrance is surrounded by two massive square towers. The abbey is surrounded by conventual buildings: cloisters, infirmary, gardens, granaries, etc.
