Aerial view of the Carthago circus (Carthage). The drawing is in landscape format. It is organized within a frame drawn in ink. Traces of watercolor and inscriptions are visible in the margins.
The circus is in the center of the drawing. The lower part is occupied by a necropolis, while an artisanal quarter populates the upper part. The circus is depicted during a chariot race. An accident has occurred on one of the bends. The building consists of a long track, divided in two by a central ridge (spina), around which the chariots turn. To the left are the carceres, from which the carriages are launched. On either side of the track are the boxes and bleachers for the spectators.
