Front view of Caligula’s bust. The drawing is in portrait format. It consists of a collage. The portrait is a photocopy, with graphite added for detail. It is pasted onto a photograph of Roman wall paintings. The whole is surrounded by a marie-louise.
This is a bust of the emperor Caligula, turned three-quarters. His oval face reveals a young beard. His hair is short. His lips are thin and pursed.
The drawing was inspired by a statue in the Louvre Museum in Paris.
