Aerial view of Burdigala (Bordeaux). The drawing is in landscape format and has no frame. Inscriptions appear on the reverse.
The city is located on the left bank of the Garonne, visible on the right of the drawing, and on either side of the Devèze, which runs horizontally through the drawing. The city’s port is located at the mouth of the river. The forum is located at the intersection of the cardo (north-south axis) and the decumanus (east-west axis), not far from the river bank. It comprises a rectangular courtyard with a portico, a temple and a basilica. On the left of the drawing, you can make out the theater and amphitheater. In the distance, a marshy area can be seen.
